10% PVP in FertiCult™ Flushing Medium
A ready-to-use viscous medium containing 10% polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) formulated in FertiCult™ Flushing Medium for sperm preparation during ICSI. The high viscosity slows sperm movement significantly, making individual cell capture and tail nicking more precise and controlled — a small but critical step that directly affects injection technique and outcomes.
Description
ICSI demands a level of manual precision that starts well before the needle touches the oocyte. Getting a single sperm into a glass pipette cleanly, and immobilizing it reliably before injection, requires the right medium — and that’s exactly what 10% PVP in FertiCult™ Flushing Medium is built for.
The 10% (w/v) dialysed Ph. Eur.-grade polyvinylpyrrolidone creates a viscosity of over 170 cP at 25°C — thick enough to noticeably slow sperm motility, giving the embryologist better control during individual cell selection and capture. From there, tail nicking in the same medium completes the immobilization before injection. It’s a simple workflow that becomes very repeatable with a consistent product.
The PVP is formulated in FertiCult™ Flushing Medium — HEPES-buffered for stability outside the incubator, with bicarbonate, physiologic salts, glucose, lactate, pyruvate, and 4.0 g/L medicinal-grade human serum albumin. Human Sperm Survival Assay confirms ≥80% motility retention after 60 minutes of exposure, and the Mouse Embryo Assay clears ≥80% blastocyst rate after a 10-minute exposure — so the product is effective without being harsh. Full sterility and endotoxin testing per Ph. Eur./USP standards, CE-marked under MDR, Health Canada licensed, and registered in Brazil.
Available in 0.2 mL single-use strips (pack of 5) or 1 mL vials — the 0.2 mL format in particular keeps things clean and minimises waste per cycle.
