Description
Overlay oil is one of those consumables that doesn’t get enough attention — but the wrong choice can quietly destabilise your culture system. FertiCult™ Mineral Oil and FertiCult™ High Viscosity Oil are both pre-washed, ready-to-use paraffin oils designed to protect embryo culture drops by maintaining stable pH, temperature, and osmolality throughout the incubation period.
The two variants are identical in quality and purpose — the difference is purely physical. FertiCult Mineral Oil is lower viscosity (under 60 cP at 30°C, density 0.83–0.86 g/mL), making it easy to work with in most standard setups. The High Viscosity Oil runs significantly thicker (95–140 cP at 30°C, density 0.86–0.88 g/mL), which suits labs where culture dish geometry or handling technique benefits from a denser overlay. Neither is inherently better — it comes down to your lab’s workflow and dish type.
Both are tested to the same standard: Mouse Embryo Assay at ≥80% blastocyst rate, endotoxin below 0.1 EU/mL, peroxide value well under 0.1 mEq/kg, and full sterility testing per Ph. Eur./USP. Available in glass or PETG bottles across 50 mL, 100 mL, and 500 mL sizes — CE-marked, FDA cleared, Health Canada licensed, and registered in Brazil.
