IVFtech Benchtop Incubator

The FreyGen ALF is a benchtop dry incubator developed through direct input from IVF clinicians, designed around what actually matters in day-to-day lab use: stable environment, easy cleaning, and reliable security. A large internal gas mixer eliminates the need for pre-mixed tri-gas, and recycled nitrogen from the chambers returns to the mixer — reducing gas consumption and preventing cross-contamination between chambers. Both the lid and base are independently heated, with dual temperature displays on each lid for instant verification. Patient names can be programmed directly into the touchscreen, removing the risk of mislabelled tape or dislodged post-it notes.

Description

The FreyGen ALF came out of a straightforward process: IVFtech sat with clinicians, asked them what worked and what didn’t about the incubators they were already using, and built around those answers. The result is a 4 and 6-chamber benchtop incubator that prioritises the things that get overlooked in spec sheets — cleanability, gas efficiency, intuitive controls, and the kind of small security features that matter most at 2am when nobody’s in the lab.

Each chamber is precision-engineered to minimise nitrogen loss. The nitrogen that does escape the chamber is routed back into the internal gas mixer and recycled, which keeps running costs down and eliminates cross-contamination between chambers. The internal gas mixer itself is large by design — larger volume means faster return to equilibrium after a door opening, which directly protects developing oocytes and embryos. Importantly, this setup runs on standard single gases rather than expensive pre-mixed tri-gas.

Temperature is managed at both the lid and the base, each with its own display, so clinicians can confirm uniformity at a glance rather than relying on a single readout. The touchscreen controls temperature, gas concentrations, and fan speed, and also allows patient names to be typed directly into the system — a simple feature that removes a real source of labelling error in busy labs.

Cleaning was a specific complaint IVFtech heard repeatedly, and the FreyGen addresses it directly. There are no screws beneath the tray inserts, the seal and lid are both removable, and the trays lift out cleanly for transport to the workstation on a heated plate. Validation ports — including access to the gas mixer and HEPA/VOC filter — are located at the front, so the incubator doesn’t need to be pulled out of a rack for routine checks. The chamber locking system requires nothing more than aligning an arrow and lifting.

For overnight monitoring, the FreyGen includes a remote alarm system and an onboard data logger, giving clinicians a full record of incubator performance and an alert if anything drifts out of range.
