Econica Vertical Laminar Flow Cabinet
The Econica is IVFtech’s entry-level vertical laminar flow workstation, built for labs that need reliable clean-air performance without the premium price tag. Available in 60 cm and 120 cm widths, it comes as a cold or heated unit and is prepped for single-microscope setups straight out of the box. A sloping front panel, quiet operation under 51 dB, and a stainless steel work surface make it a practical daily-use cabinet. Height-adjustable stand options and universal microscope compatibility round out a straightforward, no-fuss package.
Description
The Econica sits at the accessible end of IVFtech’s cabinet range — the thinking being that a well-designed laminar flow workstation shouldn’t require a significant capital outlay to deliver consistent, dependable results. It doesn’t cut corners where it matters: airflow quality and heated surface consistency are held to the same standard you’d expect from any IVFtech product, just packaged more simply and priced accordingly.
Airflow is delivered vertically across the entire working area at 0.25–0.40 m/s, filtered through an H-14 HEPA filter rated to EN 1822 at 99.995% MPPS — that’s Class A air quality inside the cabinet. A negative pressure plenum adds an extra layer of safety by containing any potential contamination at the perimeter rather than letting it escape into the room. The prefilter handles ambient particulates before air even reaches the HEPA stage, which helps extend filter life in busier lab environments.
The cabinet is available in 60 cm and 120 cm front-opening configurations. Both come with a stainless steel work surface, a built-in light source, and a scratch-resistant glass front. The heated version covers a temperature range from ambient up to 50°C, giving you the flexibility to match your specific protocol requirements. On the 60 cm model, height is electronically adjustable between 600 and 1,000 mm — useful when multiple staff members are working at the same station or when ergonomics are a priority. The 120 cm model comes in a fixed configuration at 800–850 mm.
Noise output is rated below 51 dB, which in a working lab is quiet enough that it won’t compete with conversation or add to operator fatigue over a long session. Controls are kept deliberately simple: an on/off switch for the fan and a separate one for the light. No unnecessary complexity. Total power draw sits at 400W, and the unit ships ready for both 120V/60Hz and 230V/50Hz supply — so import and local installation are straightforward.
Microscope compatibility is broad by design. The cabinet is prepped for one scope and works with all major brands without requiring custom adapters or modifications. Optional fixed or electronically adjustable stands, plus wheel options, make installation and repositioning flexible depending on your lab layout.
For labs setting up a new workstation on a budget, or expanding capacity without duplicating high-end spend across every bench, the Econica offers a clean, honest value proposition.
